A strong earthquake which hit Costa Rica Thursday killed at least two people. No Canadians were killed in Costa Rica earthquake
SAN JOSE, Costa Rica- A powerful earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale hit north central Costa Rica on Thursday. According to authorities, two children were killed by a landslide after the earthquake buried their house in the city Fraijanes THE Alajuela, about 50 km west of San Jose, in Alajuela province.
The earthquake triggered the soil in rural areas, and went along with a highway near the Poas volcano national park. Two sisters sell sweets on the volcano was buried in an avalanche and died. The epicenter of the earthquake was near the Poas volcano, one of Costa Rica's most important tourist attractions in the province of Alajuela, about 60 km northwest of the capital San Jose.
No Canadians killed in Costa Rica Earthquake
A Foreign Ministry spokesman said Canadian No deaths have been reported as a strong earthquake shook Costa Rica Thursday afternoon. Costa hockey media was reporting structural damage in the capital, but no injuries.
